Setting Pay Rates by Event Type
Pay teachers a different rate for certain lesson types — a percentage of their rate, a flat hourly rate, or nothing at all.

Open Event Types
Click Settings in the sidebar and open the Event Types tab. Each event type (such as Lesson, Recital, or Makeup) can carry its own teacher-pay rule.
- 2
Add or edit an event type
Click Add Event Type, or edit an existing one. In the form you'll find a Teacher Pay dropdown.
- 3
Choose how this type pays
The Teacher Pay dropdown offers three modes:
• Standard (hourly rate) — the teacher earns their own hourly rate. This is the default.
• Percentage of teacher's rate — enter a percentage, e.g. 50 for half rate. Enter 0 to make the type unpaid.
• Flat hourly rate — enter a fixed hourly amount for this type. It overrides the teacher's own rate and works even if they don't have one. Enter 0 for unpaid. - 4
Save
Save the event type. Its rate now applies to every lesson of that type, and the Teacher Pay column on the Event Types table shows the rule at a glance — for example 50% of rate, 15.00/hr flat, Unpaid, or Standard.
Tips
- A flat rate is handy when the teacher's usual rate doesn't apply — like a paid recital or a group class with fixed pay.
- Standard and percentage rates need an hourly rate on the teacher; a flat rate does not.
- Because pay is calculated when you run a timesheet, editing an event type's rate also re-prices already-taught lessons of that type. Set rates before running pay for a period.
- Learn how these rates combine into a final figure in How Teacher Pay Is Calculated.
