- 1
Open the lesson and take attendance
On the Schedule calendar, click the lesson the student missed, then click Take Attendance (or Edit Attendance if attendance has already been recorded).
- 2
Mark the student with a non-billable status
In the attendance panel, click the student and choose a non-billable status: Excused, Absent (not billable), or Canceled. Makeups can only be granted for these non-billable absences — billable statuses such as Present, Late, or a billable absence don't owe a makeup.
- 3
Check "Grant a makeup lesson"
Once a non-billable status is selected, a Grant a makeup lesson checkbox appears. Check it to record that the student is owed one makeup for this missed lesson. This option only appears for enrolled students, not trial students.
- 4
Save attendance
Click Save Attendance. The makeup credit is now recorded for the student.
- 5
See and manage makeups a student is owed
Go to the student's profile and open the Attendance tab. At the top you'll see how many makeup lessons the student is owed, and the missed lessons that generated them are badged Makeup owed. To remove a makeup granted by mistake, click the remove button next to it.
Tips
- If you later change the attendance to a billable status (or uncheck the box), the pending makeup is removed automatically — a makeup only exists while the absence is non-billable.
- A makeup that has already been redeemed by a scheduled lesson can't be removed from the student's profile.
