- 1
Open your schedule
Sign in at app.musicdesk.io to open your Family Portal, then click Schedule in the menu. Your My Schedule calendar shows your children's lessons.
- 2
Open the lesson
Tap the lesson you'd like to cancel. A panel opens showing the lesson's date and time, instrument, teacher, and current status.
- 3
Tap "Cancel this lesson"
If your studio allows online cancellations and you're still before the cancellation deadline, you'll see a Cancel this lesson button, along with a Cancel by … reminder showing the deadline. If the deadline has already passed, the button is replaced by a note that the cancellation deadline has passed, so the lesson can no longer be canceled. Most studios won't allow schedule changes past their deadline, though some may make an exception.
- 4
Add a reason (optional) and confirm
On the Cancel [student name]'s lesson? confirmation, you can add a note under Reason (optional) to let the studio know why. Tap Cancel lesson to confirm, or Keep lesson to go back.
- 5
You're done
You'll see Lesson canceled. and the lesson updates on your calendar. Your studio can see the cancellation on their end, and if their policy grants makeups for in-time cancellations, a makeup credit is added for your child automatically.

Changed your mind? Undo it
If you cancel and then realize you can make the lesson after all, open the lesson again and tap Undo cancellation. You can do this as long as you're still before the same deadline — you'll see a You can undo until … reminder. Confirm and you'll see Lesson restored., and the lesson returns to your schedule. Once the deadline has passed, undoing online is no longer possible — contact the studio to request an exception.
Tips
- You can only cancel your own children's lessons, and only before your studio's cancellation deadline. Once the deadline passes, the lesson can no longer be canceled online.
- In a group lesson, canceling removes only your own child — the other students stay scheduled.
- If your cancellation earned a makeup credit, undoing it releases that credit again. If that credit has already been used for another lesson, you'll need the studio to undo the cancellation for you.
- The portal is otherwise read-only: you can view lessons but can't reschedule or book new ones. For those changes, reach out to your studio.
- Studio owner? See Setting Up Family Self-Cancellation to turn this on and set your cancellation deadline.
