Sending a Payment Link to a Family

Send a secure payment link so a family can set up their monthly subscription.

    Assign a product to the enrollment

    Go to the student's profile and open the Enrollments tab. If no product is assigned yet, click the three-dot menu on the enrollment, select Edit Enrollment, and choose a product from the dropdown (e.g., "Monthly 30-Minute Lessons"). Click Save.

    Go to Subscriptions and find the family

    Click Subscriptions in the sidebar and search for the student. You should see their subscription status as No Subscriptions. Click Manage to open their billing details.

    Review and send the payment link

    Double-check the enrollment details — student, teacher, instrument, and assigned product. Then click Send Payment Link. By default, the payment link will be sent to the family's primary contact email. If the student is starting mid-month, you can enter a pro-rated Upfront Payment Amount for the remainder of the current month. Starting the following month, the family will be charged the full monthly amount automatically on the 1st.

    Preview the email and send

    You can preview the email to see exactly what the family will receive. When you're happy with it, click Send Payment Link. The family will get an email from MusicDesk on behalf of your studio with a secure link to complete payment.

    Family completes payment

    The family clicks the link in their email, enters their credit card details, and completes the payment. The card they use will be saved and charged automatically for all future monthly billing. Back in MusicDesk, the subscription status will update to Trialing until the first full billing cycle begins.

    Verify the payment

    To confirm the payment went through, go to Transactions in the sidebar and click on the current month. After the family has paid, you'll see the payment listed with its amount and status.

Tips

  • Families only need to enter their payment info once — billing is automatic from then on.
  • Use the upfront payment amount to pro-rate charges when a student starts mid-month.
  • Make sure you've connected Stripe and created products in Settings before sending payment links.
